How I Built A 6 figure Business In Two Years! Life and Business Reflections From 2019

I'm really excited to reflect on the last two years and share how I was able to build a 6 figure business. The last few years with my business has been absolutely booming and I’m going to share where I was before, how far I've come and how quickly it can happen.

It doesn't need to take 10 years to be able to accomplish building a successful business

It is just absolutely insane how quickly my business took shape and took off. I transitioned to business coaching in 2018, year one as a business coach, six figures to multiple six figures, which is right now in 2019. Year three is going to be seven figures that can happen for you. I left my nine to five in 2018 it was just two years ago, wasn't very long ago.

In the beginning of 2019 my business was at a much different place than it is now.

January, 2019 I was a completely different business owner. I was working eight to ten hour days, I barely had a team, and I was too afraid to really like give someone else access to my business. I was still a one woman show the majority of the time.

I was doing everything.

I was editing my own podcast, writing my own show notes, recording, editing, writing all my captions, doing all of my email sequences, importing all of my emails to my database, and on and on. I was seriously afraid to let go.

Back in January 2019 I was just kind of working away. I was at about $15K-$20K months and it was absolutely incredible

But then I got complacent in my business…

We all go into those funks in our businesses sometimes, and I'm going to be really transparent with you girls, it happened to me too.I thought I could be happy just maintain my current business and revenue. But that didn't align with my vision of helping and impacting as many women on this planet that I can and truly transforming their lives.

As I got out of that headspace really quick, I started to do some travel, collaborate with other business owners, and build again.

I went to a ton of events and I invested in my business to get to where I am

This might make you think that I'm absolutely crazy, but 2019 was a big year for my business and a big year of investing!! In 2019 I invested nearly $80,000 into my business and that $80,000 isn't even including my team and things like that.

I went to events once every two months in California, I went to Vegas and met some incredible women. But when I got home I would be a hermit and stay to myself. I really didn't get out much because of that and it got really lonely.

Then this summer I hired my most recent mentor. The best decision all year. I felt so blessed to have the opportunity to work with my current mentor, Sabrina, Philip. Since then I've told myself and I will tell everyone out there, always have someone in your corner that you can go to for support.

This is when my business started to get back up and really start booming again. I hit my first $50K launch. I started to hired a new support and let go and the minute I let go, things got easier. I think my business probably could have exploded faster if I fully trusted myself.

I started an emotional intelligence program. I started investing in myself and my business and also investing in my personal development.

Because of this, I was able to do some amazing traveling. I went to California, went to Bali with a girlfriend, and then I went from Bali to Italy and that was such an incredible trip.

By the end of December in 2019 my business was completely transformed

I am now at about a four hour work day if it's intentional, which now that's all I do. My investments paid off. In 2018 we hit six figures and, 2019 we hit multiple six figures. 2020 is going to be seven figures. If I was able to do it, you can definitely do it.

So my biggest takeaways and my biggest things I would really push you to do in 2020 and start right now are:

Number one: In January go and collaborate.

Collaborate with anyone in your industry, with people outside of your industry, even people with a similar niches. It’s so important for you to truly impact, create transformation and help more people. You need to be known by more people.

Start to collaborate, whether it's Facebook lives, getting on other people's podcasts, Facebook Groups, go live on IG, just start pitching yourself. Start it right now. Even if it's just once a month, make it a priority.

Number two: hire a mentor.

Go hire someone that is living the life you want, right now. They've got the business you're looking for, the lifestyle, maybe the relationships, the family, whatever it is that you're looking for to create in your life. Find someone that's embodying that right now and go work with them. Go pick their brain, hire someone to give you that fast pass to get there quicker.

Make it happen. Don't stress about the money, you can make more money. A mentor is going to help you make more money, so go hire mentors.

Number three: play more

Oh my goodness, I had so much fun this year. Play more, enjoy yourself more and have more fun. I played more by having date night every single week with my partner, doing what we love, going to a cabin and arcade spots. It sounds so nerdy, but we love it.

So whatever play looks like for you. If it's a coloring book, go get an adult coloring book or go get kids coloring books. Doesn't matter. Just go and play more. Enjoy. Bring that inner child out and really celebrate yourself.

Number four: step into that next version of yourself

Ask yourself every day, “Who is seven figure business owner, Melissa, how would she act? How would she show up? What would she do with her clients? How would she give, how would she do this? How would she celebrate herself?”

My team and I have already been planning 2020

We've got some new containers coming out so that we can impact more and help more people. 2020 is the year everyone's going to go off with a bang. Everyone's going to be exploding. Empires are growing. It's going to be absolutely magical for everybody. We can't wait! Thanks for hanging out. We will see you next time.
