Welcome back to another episode of The Fierce Business Babe Podcast. Let's dive into today's brand new episode. These are a new shorter style episode that we're calling this Fierce Business Q&A. It’s a micro episode for you answering one question that a client asked. This is how it's going to work: each week my team pulls a question that a client asked in one of my programs and I'm going to go into full detail here with you on how we answered the question and how we supported our client.

So, the client this week asked, how to grow your email list? We support our clients in so many different ways in this container. We have weekly group coaching calls where we dive deep into content, share screens, go behind the scenes, and put together action steps for our clients to move forward. We have a Slack channel to ask questions every single day and an entire training library with 20+ hours of material to go through that they get lifetime access to. They also have access to all future updates, how cool is that? We supported our client with this question in our Slack channel. I'm in there multiple times throughout the day, so is my team, supporting our clients all throughout the week.
Let’s get into the answer to this week's question, how to grow your email list? Before we dive into actually answering the question, I do want to share the importance of email lists. Right now you may be focused on trying to grow your social media platforms, which is amazing. You definitely want to be getting in front of more and more people so you can help more people. Continue doing so and start collecting email addresses as well. For example, if Instagram or Facebook were to shut down tomorrow, which probably won't happen, however, it's possible. There have definitely been those two or three days every single year where the platforms do shut down. I also lost my original Instagram account. Yes, we’re still working on getting it back. If we don’t get it back, we lost all of our followers. All of that is gone. You would lose everything if the platform shut down. We don't own the followers. Email addresses on our list are the only things that we actually own when it comes to lead information.
So, is email marketing dead? Most definitely not. I did a full podcast episode answering this question and sharing why it's not dead. I also shared what is really necessary to blow your email list up. Nurturing your email list and selling to your email list works. It will be around for quite some time. I promise you email marketing is not going anywhere. It's been here forever. It's continuing to stick around, and again, it’s the only thing you own. Let's get to actually answering the question, how to grow your email list? If you don't have one, create one today. That’s your action item for today. Go create your email list. If you're not sure how, send me a message. This is one of the many, many things that we support our clients with. It is just so important to get started.
So, what can you do? The first thing to do is create a freebie. Create some type of value add piece to collect email addresses. Ask yourself if there's anything that you already have that you can use. Do you have a freebie or any type of value add that you can give to your audience in exchange for their email address? Maybe it’s a worksheet, a workbook, or a template. Anything that you've already recorded in the past. Go ahead, create an opt-in page and do this. We give step by step on how to do this in our programs as well.
The second thing you can do is start a Facebook group. If you have one, let's make sure that you've got your questions in there for people to hop into the group. You're allowed to ask three questions on your Facebook group prior to new members entering and joining. Make one of those questions about their email addresses. Add in your group description your freebie link. Post that everywhere, your Instagram bio, everywhere so that people can see that and hop in and you can get that email address in exchange.
Another thing you can do is a live training series, a challenge, or a workshop. You can do some type of an event that you're hosting and in order for them to save their seat they'll need to input their email address to register in order for them to get that next step information. There are a lot of different things you can do. These are just three ways out of so many that you can start doing to collect email addresses. I'd recommend focusing on adding at least a few email addresses minimum to your list each week and continue to grow. The things that we focus on are what do grow and what do expand. Again, it really is the only thing that you actually own in terms of lead information.
