SET UP YOUR BLACK FRIDAY SALE WITH MELISSA

BY: MELISSA LIN

Welcome back to another episode of The Fierce Business Babe Podcast! This is a topic I love diving into each year, whether it's live training on social media, chatting about it here on the podcast, or doing a Q&A on my Instagram. If you haven't seen the title of this week's episode, it's all about setting up your Black Friday sale with me. We're going to get into some pretty juicy stuff today. We're going to chat about planning your Black Friday, some business assets for your sale, my Black Friday Sale Workshop details, and so much more. I love getting into Black Friday sales because it means that the holidays are literally right around the corner. I'm so excited for this. Even though it feels like summer just came and went and we didn’t really get much of a summer, I do love the holidays, so I'm super duper excited.

PLANNING YOUR BLACK FRIDAY SALE

First I want to get into planning your Black Friday sale. If you've never planned a Black Friday sale or hosted a holiday sale of some sort, no worries. I'm here by your side as you do so. I love Black Friday sales because it gives everyone the opportunity to hop in. It’s a time where we typically have different items available that usually aren't available throughout the rest of the year, discounts, bonuses, all of the fun things.

The first thing I want to get into is when to start planning your Black Friday sale. I want to share with you that it's never too early to start planning for your Black Friday sale or whatever sale that you might have next. As I mentioned, holidays are right around the corner. My team and I like to plan two to three months ahead. I also have a big team supporting me, so while I may be two to three months ahead, I don't want you to feel like you need to be as well. It is important, however, to start thinking ahead. The goal is not to always be working day-to-day, hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute. The goal is to get ahead a little bit so that you aren't always in that hustle mode. I want you to be able to be present during the holidays. This is why you created your business in the first place, so that you can have that freedom that you're striving to create for yourself. We’re going to get into everything Black Friday so that you are more than ready once it gets here.

Again, it's never too early to start planning. We like to be two to three months ahead, so our Black Friday sale is actually pretty much ready to go at this point. This episode is coming out early so that you can have some time to start to prepare for your own Black Friday sale if you choose to have one. You may not have one, which is totally okay. It's not required to have one in your business. Maybe you were thinking about a holiday sale coming up, or an anniversary sale, a birthday sale, anything. Even if it's next year, it's never too early to start planning for that. Even if you plan something and have it mapped out, you can always pivot and make changes, nothing is ever set in stone. This is your business, so you get to make the rules.

If you're wondering what you’re going to sell during your Black Friday sale or your holiday sale, I want you to think about things that you already have in your product suite or your vault of items that you already have. You don’t necessarily need to create something brand new to sell, and to be honest, sometimes that can actually feel a bit harder. There's not as much brand awareness around something brand new versus something you’ve been selling for a few years. I've been running my program The Fierce Business Academy for four or five years now. There's tons of brand awareness around our signature coaching programs and courses that we sell. Think about something you already have. This may be something you can bring out of your vault that you haven't sold in a while or pre selling for the new year. There's a lot of different things you can do, and we're going to get more into that in this episode and in my workshop I will be hosting as well.

I want you to start to think about when to start planning, so right now. You can start brainstorming and planning right now. I also want you to think about when to start selling. This is something I have mentioned before, brand awareness. I recently created a podcast episode all about creating more brand awareness. I want you to keep in mind that we get to let our audiences know ahead of time that a sale is coming. The goal isn't just to open doors for Black Friday. The goal is to also have your audience be ready to purchase when those doors open for your Black Friday sale. We want to start selling early and letting your audience know ahead of time. You can start letting them know in your Instagram stories as you’re planning it.  I am chatting with you about Black Friday right now. I'm not necessarily going to share what we're selling for Black Friday on this episode, however, I'm starting to create awareness that we are going to be having a Black Friday sale. Start to create awareness around it.

Create a caption for your social media platform that shares awareness and a few call to actions with what's coming up. You can add a, “P.S. get ready for a sneak peek at my Black Friday sale.” Start to create awareness. Literally tell your audience that something is coming, that you're going to have a Black Friday sale, and have fun with it. You can do a quiz or a poll asking your audience what they think is going to be in your Black Friday sale this year. You can ask, what are you looking for? What do you have your eyes on? If you're able to, create awareness on all of your platforms. With how wild the algorithm has been, we can't guarantee that everybody will see your story or your captions, so send it out in a few different ways.

The more awareness that you can create, the more your audience will be ready to buy when you open doors for your sale. It’s the same with bigger launches that you do in your business. The goal isn't to start to get your audience ready when you open doors, the goal is to have them ready by the time you open doors. There is so much preparation and work that goes into that pre-launch before you even open doors to the public.

Now, you may be wondering, how long do I have my sale open? That's always such a big question. There's no right or wrong length of time for your sale. Some people like to keep their sale open all month long while others prefer shorter sales. For me personally, all month long is just a little bit too much time. I'm right in the middle. I'll be going into more details on the length of your sale and how to map that out in my workshop that I'll be hosting. Typically I host this for my Mastermind clients, but for the first time I'm going to be opening this to others in my audience as well. If you're wanting to get more of a hands-on experience with me and actually map things out together, you’ll be able to purchase. You are the first to hear about this because my podcast gets out before any of these details are on social media. You are literally the first to hear about this outside of my team. You will be able to grab a ticket and attend alongside my clients and map out your entire Black Friday sale if you want to. More details will come at the end of today's episode. Start thinking about Black Friday sales and holiday sales. Even if you're not going to host a sale, start to think about it because we want to create brand awareness so that you can be moving the needle forward.

BUSINESS ASSETS

Now I want to chat about some of the business assets for your Black Friday sale. There's no right or wrong type of asset to utilize for your Black Friday sale. I didn't have a sales page for my very first Black Friday sale that I hosted. I had a few captions and an email or two, that was it. I sent the payment links out to anyone who wanted to purchase so they could take that next step. We've also had some more recent ones where we have a full sales page, tons of details in our captions, Instagram story graphics, and more than just one or two emails. We definitely have been spreading and sharing our sales to all of our platforms whereas when I first started it was just one platform. Again, there's no right or wrong amount of assets for your business; it's really all about what feels good to you. I have tons of examples, and if you're a client you've seen some of these. We're going to be going into all of that inside of the workshop together and even providing templates.

Some assets to think about include copy for your audience so that they know that you have something coming. This could be in a few captions, a few graphics in your Instagram stories, or you could really take it up a notch and create a sales page and some emails. We always have multiple five-figure Black Fridays, if not a little higher than that, and it's because we create so much brand awareness. We let our audience know what's coming through a few of these things I've mentioned and a lot of the things that I'll be getting into in the workshop that I will be hosting as well. Again, brand awareness is important, start planning it now. Start thinking about what you want to sell, create a timeline, map out what you want to do, and then execute it. See how it goes this year, rinse and repeat next year. You may need to make some pivots, refine and improve every single year. We're taking a look at how last year was, the year before, and we're continuing to improve and tweak. There's always room for improvement and things do pivot. Messaging in the online space might need to change a little bit; We might need to update our copy; We might need to update some graphics. There are always things to improve.

What's really cool about creating these assets in your businesses is you get to keep them forever. For example, we repurpose the sales page that we have for our Black Friday sale every single year. We do swap out what some of the actual pieces in our sale are, however, we do utilize that same sales page template for our business year after year. This makes it so much easier for that next time that we do want to host a big sale.

MY BLACK FRIDAY SALE WORKSHOP

I gave you some details and some tips to get started and things to start to think about in terms of assets as well. I'm so excited for you. We do have a bit of time still, so don't feel like it needs to all happen today. However, if you do want to actually set up the rest of your Black Friday sale with me by your side, for the very first time, I'm hosting an entire Workshop with anyone who wants to join all around Black Friday sales. Each year, my team and I are able to turn on our Black Friday sale and let it run. All our assets are created early and all of our content is pre-scheduled so that we can be present with family and loved ones during the holidays while our business is still running for us. I want to help you do the same, which is exactly why I am selling my pre-recorded 90-minute workshop where I help you map out every detail of your Black Friday sale.

Usually this is only available for my Mastermind clients, but this year we're opening it to the public in case you would like to hop in as well. During the workshop we decide what you'll sell during your Black Friday sale, what that's going to look like, and what your sale is actually going to be, whether it’s a discount or bonuses. We're also going to create your timeline for your Black Friday sale. Whether it's all month long or only one-week long, you'll have all of that mapped out and know exactly when you need to start each step. We will also be providing templates for you and support to help you map out some of those assets you'll need to create for your business. Some of the templates we will be providing include Asana templates for the timeline of your sale, email template, and Instagram story graphic templates.

If you've worked with me in the past, you know I love to surprise and delight. I have a few more bonus items for those that do hop in. Those assets alone that I shared are worth thousands alone, so hop in while you can. Again, this is the first time I'm opening to the public outside of my Mastermind clients and it is most likely the only time I will be doing this. I don't have plans to sell this workshop again, so hop in while you can. Let's start mapping out your Black Friday sale and have all of the assets ready to go. You can also repurpose for your other sales in the future.

If you have any questions feel free to send me a message over on Instagram and I will be there to answer that question for you. The link to purchase will be in the show notes and all over my Instagram page as well. We touched on so much today, planning your Black Friday sale, some business assets for your Black Friday sale, my Black Friday sale workshop, and so much more. We are already getting ready for next week's episode and cannot wait to share it with you. We will see you next week in another brand new episode of The Fierce Business Babe Podcast bright and early next Monday morning.
