HOW TO SHIFT WHEN IMPOSTER SYNDROME HITS

BY: MELISSA LIN

Hey, welcome back to another episode of the Fierce Business Babe podcast! Today, we'll be discussing a topic that I've personally dealt with both in my business and personal life - imposter syndrome. As business owners, especially in the online space, we're constantly stepping out of our comfort zones and putting ourselves out there for the world to see. It's normal to experience fears and limiting beliefs, and for imposter syndrome to creep up. With social media constantly growing and more platforms being created, we're seeing more content and more opportunities for imposter syndrome to arise.

In this episode, we'll be exploring what imposter syndrome can look like for entrepreneurs, my own experiences with it, and how to shift our mindset when it comes to imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome can manifest in different ways, such as feeling the need to be perfect, believing that we need to work harder than anyone else to prove our worth, struggling with learning new skills, fearing negative feedback on social media, and constantly comparing ourselves to others in our industry.

I've personally experienced imposter syndrome when starting my coaching business, as well as when comparing my content to that of my friends and others in the industry. However, I've learned to become more aware of these feelings and set boundaries around social media to help combat them.

 Everyone experiences imposter syndrome

It's important to remember that everyone experiences imposter syndrome, but we can shift our mindset and become more aware of it. By staying in our own lane, creating content that feels good to us, and setting boundaries, we can combat imposter syndrome and continue to grow our businesses.

Impostor syndrome can be a debilitating experience for entrepreneurs, and it is essential to recognize it and learn to overcome it. As business owners, we are constantly pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones and taking risks to grow our businesses. However, impostor syndrome can make us feel like we are not good enough, that we do not deserve our success, and that we are frauds.

What impostor syndrome can look

In this podcast episode, we explored what impostor syndrome can look like for entrepreneurs and discussed personal experiences with it. We also dove into how to shift our mindset when impostor syndrome arises and provided some helpful tips on how to overcome it.

One way to shift our mindset is by reframing our thoughts and beliefs around success and social media. We need to embrace vulnerability and celebrate small wins while focusing on adding value and getting content out there. It is also essential to remember that messy action beats no action every single time and that someone out there needs our content, so we should get it out there, even if it's not perfect.

Another way to overcome impostor syndrome is by setting big boundaries. For example, muting anyone in our industry or niche that we find ourselves comparing ourselves to on social media or taking breaks from social media altogether. We can also connect with our audience and find a supportive community of other business owners who understand what we're going through. Celebrating our wins, both personal and professional, can help build our confidence and allow us to own our success.

When impostor syndrome starts to sink in, we must be aware of the pattern and start shifting away from it. We must remember that we are in control of our businesses and that taking the first step, even if it's scary, is necessary for growth and success. We should not let impostor syndrome hold us back from pursuing our dreams.

It is important to realize that everyone experiences impostor syndrome, but we can shift our mindset and become more aware of it. By staying in our own lane, creating content that feels good to us, and setting boundaries, we can combat impostor syndrome and continue to grow our businesses.

In conclusion, impostor syndrome is a common experience among entrepreneurs, but we can learn to overcome it by shifting our mindset and taking control of our businesses. By reframing our thoughts and beliefs, setting boundaries, celebrating our wins, and being aware of the pattern, we can combat impostor syndrome and continue to achieve our goals. Remember that you are not alone, and with the right mindset and tools, you can overcome it and thrive.
