Make 6 Figures in 2025
BY: MELISSA LIN
Welcome back to another episode of The Fierce Business Babe Podcast. We are a little more than halfway through this month, the start of the new year, and this can be your year to six figures. Even if you are just starting your business, you most definitely can hit six figures before the end of the year. It is so possible for you. Today we're going to dive into the secret to six figures, some tips and tricks, how I got to six figures, what that looked like, and so much more. I do want to say that it's not something that's going to happen overnight. If anybody tells you that you can start and grow a six-figure business overnight, please run because it is not true whatsoever. Growing a business definitely takes time, it takes work. However, it can definitely happen this year. This year gets to be your big year. There is a lot that we’re going to get into today to help you get closer to where you want to be. If you're already at six figures and you are wanting to scale to multiple six figures and beyond, everything I'm going to talk about today is also going to support you in some way, so definitely keep listening because there's going to be some juicy stuff today. We're going to get into some of the shifts that I made to scale to six figures in 2018, the secret to growing your business to six figures, my tips for you to scale, and so much more.
The Start of my Business Journey
I made my first six figures as a business coach back in 2018, which is just wild to me because it feels like that was so long ago. I made six figures, believe it or not, without a full working website. The reason I wanted to share that is there are so many who feel that they need to have everything before they can even start their business, right? They need their branding, their logos, their websites, everything's got to be put together. That just isn't the case. What is so cool about running and growing your own business is that you get to make up the rules. I'm going to go into a little more detail today on what my first six figure year looked like in my business. I didn't have a full working website. I had a few application pages and that was it. To this day I still don't have a sales page for private coaching even though it's always filled year round, and I probably won't ever have a sales page for private coaching. Some of these things just aren't necessary.
If you feel like you need everything ready before you can really grow your business, that isn't true. It can look however you want it to look. Again, I didn't have a full working website. I love sharing this story because I remember feeling so stressed about it back then. I remember the moment I put my first page up, it wasn't even a full working website. I was going to a networking event and on my business card I had my new website name. I was so stressed and worried that I needed to have everything put together. That was the reason I even wanted to make a website. It wasn't because I wanted to make it easier for my customers to find me, it was because my website URL was on my business card. Fun fact, I didn't hand any of those business cards out because social media made things so much easier. Everyone just swapped Instagram handles with the barcode. I just thought that was fun to share because I remember feeling like I absolutely needed to have my website put together at a certain milestone in my business because of those business cards that I had.
You may be asking yourself, “do I need a website at some point?” It's not going to hurt. I have a website and it's a great tool for me to send out to people if they're wanting to find the podcast, any of my free classes, or any of my digital products. It's great for people to go through and see what else might be a good fit for them on my website. It's nice to have all of that in one place. However, it’s definitely not necessary for when you're getting started and not necessary to grow to six figures either. I go into more detail on what else you can do outside of websites for your business inside of my containers with my clients.
Back then I only had two offers at the time in my product suite that I was actively selling when I hit six figures. I was working with clients privately and I had also expanded into group coaching. I believe that I was running my very first cohort in The Fierce Business Academy when I first hit six figures. I absolutely love that program. It's one of my signature programs that I am still sporting clients in to this day. I only had two offers and I hit six figures. You don't need tons of bells and whistles to grow your business. I knew that I wanted to scale as simply as possible. I didn't want to overwhelm and complicate my business model. I know a lot of us tend to over-complicate things and make things harder than they need to be. I knew from the beginning of my business that I wanted to simplify and make things as easy as possible for me and my clients. I knew I wanted to scale as simply as possible and start to grow so I could serve more people. I didn't have any big funnels. I had maybe one freebie when I hit six figures. Today, we have so many funnels , but back then we didn’t. It really doesn’t take much to hit six figures, just one or two offers and maybe an application page. Then, of course, you want to add value on your social media.
Amplifying Your Business Model
Something I do want to make note of is that you don't need big fancy funnels or big scary systems. Not that systems are scary, but I know that the word system can be a little scary to some people. I love to make it as simple as possible, which is a big reason why we have so many templates for our clients and help them with their systems. I've done it before and know how to make it so much easier for my clients. You can do so much in your business with very little. You can reach $10K months, six-figure years, with one or two offers in your product suite. You can hit six figures by the end of the year and this is definitely something I've helped so many clients with. I've mastered it over the years and I love providing tools to help my clients get there as well.
What we really want to do is be able to amplify your business and amplify what's working, that's how we're going to get you to six figures. If you started to see some success in your business, that is one of the things we're going to start working on in this podcast episode together. Once you've created your foundations in your business, it's time to think about how you can step things up a notch. How can we turn the dial up? This could look like you signing more clients into private coaching if you have a coaching business. It could look like you adding a course or two into your product suite. It could look like you focusing on more growth activities in your business that you can get more visible and get in front of more people. The list goes on and on. There’s always more that you can do. Today I want to chat about three things specifically that I recommend you start working on and focusing on to grow to six figures in your business.
The first, which I made a quick mention of a minute ago, is to amplify what's working. What do I mean by this? Let's say, for example, you add value on social media by hosting a live workshop or a class every two weeks. Then you hop on sales calls with potential clients from your live workshop and enroll them on the call. You have a sales process that's working. So, let's amplify what's already working for you. Then we can add some new things you aren't doing yet in your business to scale you even further. Your current process works, so how can you amplify it? This could look like getting more people into your live workshop each time you host it. This could look like improving your sales call closing rate. Maybe currently you close 5 out of 10 calls that you hop on, it’s a 50% closing rate. Let's start working on your objection handling or whatever it is that is causing those other five to not take the next step with you. Some of them just are going to be ready and that's okay, but one or two of those that hopped off may be ready but afraid to take action or still had a few more questions. There are lots of different ways to improve your sales closing rate and get you from five out of ten to seven out of ten. That is a way that we can amplify what's working.
Another way is adding more value and nurturing your audience between the workshops. Can we add more content on top of what you're already sharing? Take a look at what's currently working for you and see how you can amplify it. Most of the time it's not a new strategy that you need. You most likely already have it, you just have to actually work it and amplify it. Pour some fuel onto the fire to really grow. You don't fix something that's not broken; amplify what's working. You can always go in and tweak things, refine, and improve.
Serving More Clients
The second way to start working towards six figures is to serve more people. Something I believe to be true is that the more people you serve, the more success that will come your way. How can you implement this into your business? Let's keep it simple. The way I did this was knowing that I needed to expand my product suite. I needed to have offers in my business that could serve more people at one time in order to create a bigger impact and be able to scale. I knew that I could not scale my private coaching the way I had it running. I also did not want to scale private coaching. For me this looked like expanding into group coaching programs and master courses where I could serve even more people. Instead of teaching one person one thing at one time, I was able to teach multiple people one thing at one time. I was able to serve even more people without necessarily adding more time to my calendar while still creating that same huge impact and transformation for my clients.
I want you to take a look at your product suite and your customer journey for your clients right now. Ask yourself, how can I serve more people? What does this look like? Does this look like adding new courses? Do you have a gap in your product suite? Do you have something ready for your clients once they graduate from your current program that you're launching? Are you able to create this in a way where you're able to serve more people? How can you serve at scale? It's not going to happen overnight, but I want you to start to think about that. What is your current capacity for whatever offer you're selling and how can you scale your offer? What does that look like? How does your container shift when you go from 10 people to 20 people to 30 people? What does that look like? Are you able to scale that offer? So again, we get to serve more people.
The third way to start your journey to six figures is by delegating and outsourcing. This is something I wish I would have done so much sooner. I made my first hire in my business in 2018, which is the same year I hit six figures. Since then I have continued to grow my team and outsource year after year. I now have a team of over 15 amazing team members to support me in my business. So, why outsource? Why delegate? At the end of the day, you only have so many hours in the day to put towards your business. We have 24 hours and I definitely don't want you to need to work 24 hours. You need to sleep and also live your life. Many of us started our businesses so that we could create more freedom of time in our lives. For you to continue to be in your zone of genius and to continue to step into your CEO mode, it is going to be necessary to outsource, to delegate, and to automate items in your business. I highly recommend doing so.
If you are feeling any resistance towards hiring your first team member or your next team member, I want you to really dive into that. Ask yourself what's the story behind that. If you're looking for a shift in your hiring story, the way that I like to look at expanding my team is that as I hire team members and support in my business, I am able to help more people. I get to help my team by giving them a job and it also gives me space to coach more people. I am also able to utilize some of that time to get creative and create a new course to help more people and create a bigger impact. The more support I get in my business, the bigger the impact I'm able to make and the more I'm able to support my clients. I recommend making your first hire once you're bringing in about $3,000 per month into your business, however, that's not cookie-cutter. It's not a rule, but I say that because it's a good amount so you're bringing some income into the business and you're also able to send some out.
Let's go through an example so you can see how outsourcing and hiring can really benefit you and your business. Let's say that currently you're the only one in your business. You're the only one that's sending out the emails, onboarding clients, supporting clients, and doing all of the admin and social media management tasks. If you brought on a virtual assistant for $20 an hour for five hours a week, that would be roughly $100 per week or $400 for the entire month. That would bring it to 20 hours that you're now getting back into your business every single month. Imagine what you can do with 20 hours. You get to do whatever you want to do. Maybe ten of it comes back to you and you no longer work Fridays, you just decide that you're no longer working Fridays. The other ten hours you get back can go towards sales activities. You could hop in more sales calls or host more live trainings. You’ll have space to take more private clients. You have so much space to do whatever it is you want with that time.
Let's take a look at the ROI. As an example, let’s say you invest $400 into your business for a virtual assistant to support you for 20 hours. Let's say that you hop on 10 sales calls and end up selling three coaching packages at $1,000 each. That would bring you to $3,000 in sales that you got back from investing $400 into 20 hours of help with your newest team member. Maybe your program is $2,000, then that would bring you $6,000 in sales that you get back from investing $400 for help in your business. Just an example, however, I think you can see that there can be a huge benefit to bringing in support and help into your business, especially if you are already bringing in some income to reinvest back in.
So, what items do you delegate first? The ones you dislike and the ones that drain your energy the most. I actually have another podcast episode that goes through an entire exercise to help you determine what tasks delegate first, second, third, and so on. If you need some support, send me a message on Instagram and I can direct you to that specific podcast episode. If you're starting to hire or wanting to hire, but you're not sure how and what that process looks like, this is actually one of the things we support our clients with inside of The Six-Figure Mastermind. We are hands on with you as you grow your business to six figures.
Before we wrap up this episode, I did promise you the big secret to six figures. The big secret is there really is no one big secret that you're missing. If you've wondered what it is that everyone else is doing that’s bringing them success, there is no one big secret. Add value, attract new clients, nurture, and then sell. It's really about consistency and picking a strategy and actually sticking to it. Most strategies will work as long as you give it the time and consistency it needs to work. There is no big secret, just keep going. Continue to step out of your comfort zone. Do some things you normally wouldn't do. Ask for the sale and be consistent. Let's amplify what's working and get you to six figures before the end of the year. We have touched on so much today, some of the shifts that I made to scale to six figures back in 2018, my three tips for you to scale to six figures, the big secret, not so secret, and so much more. We are already getting ready for next week's episode and I cannot wait to share it with you. We will see you next week in another brand new episode of The Fierce Business Babe Podcast bright and early next Monday morning.
