Fierce Client Case Study: $10K Year to $10K Months
BY: MELISSA LIN
Welcome back to another episode of The Fierce Business Babe Podcast! Today is going to be all about one of my clients and her success in her business. I am so excited to share it with you so that you can see some of the business and mindset shifts that my clients make. I also want to show you that some of these shifts, feelings, and limiting beliefs that you’re going through are normal. Some of the shifts that she went through might be similar to what you're going through right now or may go through in the future. The client that we’re going to be chatting about today came to me a little over a year into her online coaching business. She was bringing in a little under $1,000 per month, so she made a little over $10,000 her first year in business. After working together for six months she hit her first few $10K months in her business. Yes, you read that right. She went from $10,000 a year to $10,000 a month with just a few shifts in her mindset, product suite, and the structure of her business. It was all very doable for her and we're going to get into all of that today.
Mindset Matters
Let's dive right in. We're going to start with mindset because that's where everything starts. Some of the stories that she was creating were no longer serving her, they were limiting beliefs that were holding her back. The first one was that she couldn’t break through her upper limit. Her upper limit was her highest month in business at that point, which was about $1,000. What we needed to do was create a shift so that she had a new upper limit in mind. Something that we did to help with this mindset shift is create a lot of evidence around her that it was possible. I created a ton of evidence so she could see that her upper limit could shift and continue to go up. So that was one of the bigger mindset shifts she went through.
I want to share that shifts can happen so quickly in your business. I've had clients hop into my programs and reach their first $10K month by the end of their first month working with me. We had a client sign $20K in sales during the last three days of the month. So much can shift so quickly. We get to make those shifts. We get to decide to take action and be consistent with it and you'll start to see the change.
Her next big mindset shift was realizing that she could take her business to the next level. She had never really seen it done before, so she wasn't sure how her business could make it happen. Something that I love doing, which did help with this mindset shift, is sharing behind the scenes of my business. I share how it's structured, the different systems we have, and how to set things up. You never really know what it can look like and what's possible if you've never seen it before. When I started my business I had no idea how to run a group coaching program or what it entailed. That’s a big reason I love sharing behind the scenes of our business. It helps others see how it can be done and give them an idea of how they may want to do it in their own business. She'd never seen it done before, so we mapped out everything she would need for her group program to shift her from one-to-one to one-to-many to grow and get into the next level in her business. She was able to see how it could be done and create her own system that felt good to her.
The last mindset shift that we’ll touch on is shifting away from a place of scarcity. She was worried her group program wouldn’t fill. We shifted her away from, “what if it doesn’t fill,” into, “it’s already filling, what do I do next?” If you already knew your launch was going to fill, how would you show up today? We started to shift her into getting ready for when it does fill and getting ready to hold space for that many more people. Those were a few mindset shifts she made to help take her business to the next level.
Expanding Product Suites
Now let’s shift into how we expanded her product suite. When she came to me one-on-one coaching was the only thing in her product suite. We added in some low-ticket and high-ticket offers to accommodate people at various levels. Not everyone's going to be ready for a high-ticket offer, and that's okay. We created a true customer journey for her clients to go through, and that was a big shift.
When we started working together her only offer was private coaching, so in order to take her business to the next level we really needed to shift from one-on-one to one-to-many. We also created a few other offers to help her audience get ready for her higher-ticket offers. She did this by creating a low-ticket membership and a self-paced course. The course uses the material from her group program, but it’s self-paced without any additional coaching or support. We also turned her one-on-one into a group program and then created a new higher-level version of her one-on-one so that anyone who completes her group program can then step into one-on-one for more support.
As she turned her one-on-one program into a group program, it brought up some shifts and things to work through. One of the biggest things that came up for this client was feeling that her client results would not be as strong if she shifted to a group program because she wouldn't be able to be as hands-on with all of those clients. She hung on to a one-on-one program for so long because she was worried her clients wouldn't get the same transformation if it was a group program. In order to overcome this we took baby steps. You don't need to go from 0 to 100. You can take baby steps, and I definitely recommend it. I've done this a few times myself. First, we added expectations in multiple places. Clients knew what to expect when they came into the program and how to get the most out of the program. Another thing we did was create a hybrid the first time she ran her group program, it was a mix of one-on-one and group to help her transition. You don't need to go all-in immediately. Those were a few changes we made for her program to make the shift easier.
Another business shift we made was hiring her first team member. She was overloaded with social media, emails, admin, and coaching. She hired a virtual assistant to help her, which really got her into the mindset that the more support she has, the more people she can impact. Of course it's scary when you hire your first team member. What if it's not the right person? What if training is more work than you thought? IWhat if it's not as good as how you do it? All of the stories come up, but at the end of the day, the more support you have in your business, the more people you can impact.
A $10K Month at a Glance
So far we talked through the mindset shifts she made as she was really starting to grow her business. We also discussed some product suite shifts, like adding in a hybrid model for her first run, adding expectations everywhere for her clients, and hiring her first team member. Now I want to go into what her first $10K month actually looked like.
Her first $10K month included a mix of items in her product suite. She launched her hybrid group coaching program. She also took the video modules from her group coaching program and turned it into a self-paced course as a downsell right after the launch. The remaining sales came from interest on social media and her website throughout the rest of the month. She ended up with six group coaching clients and one who upgraded to VIP private coaching. She also filled three membership spots throughout the month. I wanted to share that with you because there are a lot of different ways to reach $10K months, there is no one secret formula. It's about having a plan in place for your business and really executing it.
We have touched on so much today. We talked about my fierce client case study, her journey from $10K a year to $10K a month, mindset shifts, how her product suite changed, business changes, and so much more. We are already getting ready for next week and we cannot wait to share it with you. Thank you for hanging out with me today. We will see you next week!
