My 2022 Summer Plans

By: Melissa Lin

Welcome back to another episode of The Fierce Business Babe Podcast! We are wrapping up June 2022 and it is so wild how quick this year has gone by. We're wrapping up the second quarter of the year and are going in quick to quarter three next week. I definitely recommend you get working on your plans for quarter three if you haven’t yet. We have tons of podcast episodes around how to prep for that. If you're unsure, feel free to send me a quick message on Instagram @the_melissalin and I can definitely point you in the right direction of which episodes to listen to. I've got tons of mini trainings on my Instagram stories and tons of content on Instagram in general for you.

Today's episode is going to be a little bit different than normal. Of course I will be adding in some business tips and tricks, however, I wanted to share some of my 2022 summer plans. So much has been going on behind the scenes. I have been so busy doing things, a lot of personal life things and a lot of business things. If you are in my social media community, you know that I've been very, very busy, especially the past 6 months, working on my new home build. My partner Ryan and I are so close to the finish line! Yes, I will be recording an entire episode about the whole process once it’s finished. Ryan and I will most likely build another home in the future, this is just going to be our first home for now. We will definitely expand with another build, but that's in the future. We’ll definitely share more plans as that comes along, however, I have tons to share about this first big project that has taken quite some time with COVID and all of those things. We’ll get to that in another episode, but today I want to get into my summer plans in terms of my business, my summer life updates, tips to add more play into your business and your personal life this summer, and so much more.

Now, before we get started, I want to share about a new giveaway we are hosting this week. This week, if you leave our podcast a fierce and raving review we will send you our launch training that our clients inside of our programs receive. In this training, which is pulled directly from our programs, you will learn launch strategy, caption examples, setting up your content calendar for your launch, and so much more. The module alone is valued at over $197 and it's yours complementary. All you need to do is leave us a fierce and raving review on iTunes. Head to your iTunes podcast Library, it's usually that purple iTunes app on your phone, click on The Fierce Business Babe Podcast, scroll to the bottom and you can leave your review there. Before you hit submit, take a screenshot of your review once it's typed out and DM me the photo on Instagram @the_melissalin. Once your review goes live we will send you your bonus training. We appreciate you so much for giving us a fierce and raving review. Again, all you have to do is leave a review, screenshot it, and then send it to me on Instagram and we will get that training over to you right away. This helps the podcast spread so that more people like you can find us, learn how to start their businesses, grow and scale, and create that bigger impact in this world.

Our Upcoming Business Plans

Before I get into summer life things and tips and tricks for you, I want to get into some summer business updates. I feel like a lot of people don't always showcase what is going to be coming in their businesses. I wanted to give you all a quick share and behind the scenes look into what’s coming in quarter three and quarter four in terms of what you will be seeing with our launch calendar and our sales plan. We are always at least one or two quarters ahead in terms of planning in the back end of the business. We are wrapping up June, so right now you’ve probably already seen that we have a flash sale going on for our sales course, Sell Like A Sales Queen. If you’ve been wanting to hop into that, I would recommend grabbing  it now. This is the first time in two years that we’ve removed the course from our vault that's typically locked up and we’re providing access to it at a discount as well. All of those details are in the show notes and in the link in my bio. If you have any questions feel free to send me a quick DM and I will send you a voice message back. If you have any questions about it I can answer them for you.

Soon we're going to be going into one of our bigger launches for the Fierce Business Academy, which is one of my signature programs. I absolutely adore this program and I've been running it for quite a few years now. This program helps you start and scale your online business to $5K months. Then I’ve got a big birthday bonus coming. I’m not going to give anything away just yet, but we do have a big birthday bonus planned. In August we’ll be getting back into some of our higher level programs, so my Masterminds. Then we may have, wink wink, something new coming in September right after we push out Fiercely Scale again. If you’re familiar with my business, most of my programs at this moment are evergreen. We'll have some bigger pushes throughout the year and then we’ll bring back some courses out of the vault once or twice throughout the year as well. That’s kind of a sneak peek at what's coming this summer in terms of what we're going to be selling.

We've got some fun trainings, some mini trainings, of course lots of exciting podcast episodes, and lots of value coming your way over on social media and here on the podcast as well. We have some pretty exciting topics coming and some new folks that we're bringing on to interview here on the podcast. Over my Instagram we have lots of exciting things and new content coming your way as well, so I definitely recommend taking a peak.

In terms of business hiring and things like that, we won't necessarily be adding on too many new hires because we have a pretty big team at the moment. We also have strong foundations in terms of our systems, behind-the-scenes automation, all of the organization, and everything else. So many of our processes are easily repeatable, so everything is set up and ready to go. We really don't need too many more team members in the near future because we've already prepped for the next level, and that's something I always recommend my clients think about. How can you start prepping for that next level now? I know a lot of us as entrepreneurs are so involved in the day-to-day; we're focusing on what we’re posting today, tomorrow, the next day. I know how stressful and overwhelming that can feel. You also want to be thinking ahead and thinking long-term. What are we going to be doing next month and the month after? Something I see happen a lot is entrepreneurs will be go, go, going and then they'll hit their next level, but their business won’t necessarily be ready for it. You want to make sure you're ready in terms of team hires, the ways that your programs are running, and your calendar as well. Are you able to start a brand new program or go into a new launch?

I deeply believe that you can do anything you want to, as long as you prep a little bit ahead of time. I'm traveling all of the time and the business is still running. It's really all about what you want, how you want your lifestyle to look, and then building your business around that. Your business gets to support your lifestyle. You get to add more play and do more things that you enjoy in your personal life and your business gets to support that. You also get to do some of these things in your business too and add more play into your business. So, those are some of the bigger business updates. We have a few new projects that we’re working on, but I cannot release that information yet. As long as you’re on my email list, listen to the podcast, or follow me on Instagram you will see this information in some way.

My Personal Summer Plans

Now let's get into some fun life updates and my summer 2022 plans. I have a birthday coming up next month. I am a Leo, so my birthday is at the end of July. As I’ve shared, we’re wrapping up our new home build. Currently our planned wrap-up date is mid-July, so we will most likely be moving in at the end of July. Things may speed up or slow down a little bit because things are always popping up and that’s a big thing I’m going to address in the podcast episode about our home build. Things don’t always go as planned, just like with entrepreneurship, so you have to be open and be able to adapt quickly to whatever is going on. So many things have happened over the past two years during this home build and we’ve had to pivot, and I’ll get into that in a future episode.

I am not doing any big travel this summer. I typically do a lot of traveling in the summer because I didn’t do much of it growing up, but we’re just very busy with the home build. I won't be doing anything big in terms of travel until early fall. I’ll be going to Hawaii and I'll be doing another international trip that we're currently planning. I will also be going to some concerts, which is super exciting. I am such a big fan of quite a few bands, in particular the Backstreet Boys and Dan and Shay, so I’ll be going to both of their concerts. Yes, I’ve already been to many of both of their concerts, I just love them. I’ll also be doing a lot of things outdoors. Working from home I don't get outside nearly as much as I did in the past when I needed to leave the house to go to work. I love summers in Seattle. If you're ever going to visit, the perfect month to come and visit the Pacific Northwest is August. The weather is always so perfect, it never gets too wildly hot and for me it’s the perfect temperature. If you’ve never been and you’re going to be visiting, let me know. I have all of the touristy things for you. If you're a big hiker there's tons of beautiful hikes out here, and we're going to be doing quite a few of those this summer as well. We’ll probably do a few overnight hikes too. I haven't done any yet this summer because of all of the house things going on.

I also plan to get more hours on the lake with my sailing certification. Ryan has sailed most of his life, but I had never really sailed. I got certified to sail right before COVID, so August 2019. We'll be getting back into that this summer, which is super exciting. I’ll really just be doing some of the activities that both Ryan and I love and have so much fun doing together. We’ll probably take a quick little weekend trip or two over the summer to some of my favorite coastal getaway spots nearby. So those are some of the things that we are doing this summer. If it wasn't too exciting, I apologize, but I do love sharing some of these things with you because it’s important to know that you can be more than just your business.

Adding Play into Your Life

I've seen, and I've been there before myself, so many entrepreneurs get into that trap of hustle, hustle, hustle and needing to do all of these things before feeling successful or doing anything in their personal lives and always putting their business first. It was kind of a big roller coaster of ups and downs and a very addictive cycle when I had those feelings, and this was closer to my first year in business. I was very attached to my business and I wasn’t open to doing things outside of my business. Once I saw it starting to affect my personal life I made a change.

So, I want to get into some tips for adding more play into your business and your personal life this summer. I truly believe that the more fun I have, the more I make in my business. The more fun I have, the better I feel and the better I feel, the more I’m able to attract. A big topic that I’ve been chatting with some of my clients about is how we feel in our business day-to-day and detaching from the outcome of our business. This is adding more play into your business, doing more of what you actually want to do, and growing your business in a way that feels good to you.

There are so many different ways you can grow your business. I have some clients that have scaled their businesses with group coaching programs and nothing else. I've had some clients only sell digital download products. I have some clients that only sell courses. I have some clients that only do private coaching and group coaching, no courses. There are so many ways to grow your business. It’s really about building a business that supports your lifestyle. Again, it’s important because of that big trend that I see a lot of entrepreneurs go through of tying their worth to their business performance or comparing how they're doing in business to other people. This can be so dangerous because it can create that roller coaster effect, the up-and-down of feeling good and not feeling good. It’s a very addictive cycle where you tie your worth to how much your business is making or what’s going on in your business.

Let’s say it’s your sales that you're attached to, the trend you’ll see is you're only feeling good when you get sales and feeling bad when you don't . What that means is that we're letting somebody or other factors outside of you run how you're feeling. So, really ask yourself, what are some ways that you can start feeling good outside of your business? Again, I was in the cycle often my first year or two. I was so addicted to my business and felt that the only way I could be successful was if every waking moment was spent on my business. I would cancel plans with friends, I’d avoid things. I spent seven days a week inside of my business and it really started to affect my relationships, my health, my mental health, and so much more. You are so much more than your business and you get to build your dream life outside of it.

Start to journal all of the things in your life that make you happy outside of your business. This way, anytime you start to feel yourself going back into that cycle of only feeling in your business when you make sales, or you get a new opt-in, whatever it may be, you can take a step back and remind yourself that you have so many things outside of your business that make you feel good as well. You get to have it all. You get to enjoy life outside of business. Make plans this summer, do some fun things. You are going to be okay if you step away from your business for a weekend, your audience will still be there when you get back.

I also want you to find things in your business that you enjoy. I don’t want you to feel like you need to escape from your business. You get to have both. You get to have fun outside of your business and also have fun inside of your business. Are there things in your business that you do enjoy? Do you enjoy creating content for your business and supporting your clients and showing up? Now, that does not mean that you need to enjoy everything in your business. There are definitely going to be things you don’t enjoy, whether that’s the tech side of things, the customer service side of things, taxes, whatever it may be. You’re not going to love every single thing in your business, but you want to make sure that there are things you have fun with and enjoy. Prioritizing that is going to help you get more of what you want even faster and really manage all of your business even better.

Again, find ways to add more play into your summer personal life and business. I cannot wait to hear all about your fun plans. I shared all of my fun plans and I want to hear all about yours this summer. If you are going on a trip, give me some inspiration because I’m starting to plan for my next few trips early this fall and into winter. I have lots of free resources for you and can definitely give you some tips there as well.
