In today’s episode, we are going to talk about how to create next level results. If you want to reach 10k, 20k, 50k months, I want to share some insights today that really helped me continue to move into the next level and create some of those massive results that you can do too.
Creating Next Level Results
By: Melissa Lin
Today we are diving all into how to create next level results no matter what level you're at. Now, when I first started my business back in 2014, some things felt really far away like unrealistic, out of this world, didn't feel like it could ever happen. You know, back then, when I first started, hitting a 10K a month felt hard and maybe you're feeling that right now. A 20k month definitely felt impossible back then and reaching like a 50k month was just out of this world. And now 50K months and above, those are my norm in my business. So I want to share some insights today that really helped me continue to move into the next level and create some of those massive results. Are you ready? Make sure you have your notebook and pen handy. Today will be packed full of goodies for you along with some great action items.
What Does Your Next Level Look Like?
Before we dive into tangibles, I want to ask you a few questions. I want you to ask yourself and start to really get clear on what does your next level look like to you? I mentioned at the beginning that in 2014 a 10K month felt hard, A 20k month felt impossible, and a 50K month was just out of this world. So what does your next level look like? Look at where you're at in your business right now. Look at where in your life you are right now. What does your next level look like? What does that look like? What do you want more of? What do you want to create? We've got to get clear on what it is that we want so that we can put a plan together, take action and make sure that we're on the right path to get there. If we don't know what we want or what we want more of, how are we supposed to create results in that level?
So ask yourself, what do you want more of, what does your next level look like? Do you want more money in your savings accounts? Do you want more Chanel bags hanging up? Do you want to live a life where you create your own schedule? 20 hour work week, four hour work weeks? What does that look like to you? Do you want to take a week off every single month? Do you want to maybe adopt another kitten like me, or two or three? Do you want to scale to 10K months, 20k months, 30 or 50K months? What is it that you want? Once we know and are so clear on what it is we want, and we want more of, we can then start to take action on getting those things.
The first thing that we get to do is decide on what we want. Decide right now. I want you to say it out loud. You've got it written down in your notebook. I want more of ___. Say it out loud, claim it. I want you to be thinking about this every single day. This is what you want more of. So we get to definitely have it in our minds, say it out loud. What we believe we can create is what we're going to be open to receiving.
Create A Next Level Plan
So the second step is going to be, let's make a plan to get there. It also gets to be a plan that feels aligned to you. To how you want your business to run, right. There is no cookie cutter plan to business. We get to create the business that we want to create. We get to create a business that fits your lifestyle, and that can look so many different ways.
Then step three is take action and be consistent. Keep going, keep going, keep going. We get to take action and then continue. If we take action and then two days we're like, “Oh, it's not working”. Of course not. We're not being consistent. So please be consistent. You can have anything that you want in this world. And it starts with you deciding. It starts with you choosing, this absolutely gets to happen. It's what's needed at every single level in business. When I was wanting to hit 10K a month, I needed to decide I wanted 10K months. I needed to make a plan to get there. I needed to have a plan that was in alignment with me and my business. Then take action. Same thing when I wanted to hit 20K months, 30K months, 50K a month, all of these things needed to happen every single time.
This gets to happen and we need to think about this every single time we step into the next level and always be embodying who that next level version is. If you want to be hitting 20k months, what would that 20K month version of you do? What types of decisions would she be making? What types of investments would she be making, how would she be spending her time? Does she have a morning routine? What does that look like? Always be acting in that next level version of you because that's what's going to also attract that next level.
The Beginning Level
Now that we know that we get to choose, we get to decide, make a plan and take action. Let's spend some time focusing on your plan and I'm going to dive into a few levels of business with you. As I mentioned, it doesn't matter what level you're at. We're going to dive into all of it today. The first level, if you were in the very beginning stages of your business, I just want to say congrats. Congrats for stepping outside of your comfort zone. Congrats for starting your business in 2021. This definitely is going to be our year. I'm so excited for you now in the beginning stages, if you're a beginner coach, a beginner service provider. What most are doing is they're staying busy, right? They're spending most of their day, writing Instagram captions, making cute graphics on Canva, which is definitely so fun. However, we don't need to spend 24 hours a day doing it and spending days and hours on sales pages, a lot of backend creation, a lot of planning. I know some that are spending time mapping out their podcast and podcast episodes for a podcast that is not even going to launch for another year. Blogging things. A lot of us spend time trying to be busy because we feel that the more we do, the more effective we're going to be, and the more we do the further in business we're going to get. But, that really isn't the case. Sometimes less is more. So what we need to think about is, as a beginner business, my beginning stages, what is most important in this stage? If you are just starting and you want to hit your first 5k month, then your foundations are critical right now. Creating foundations in your business, your niche, ideal client, a core signature offer, selling, getting out to the world and really shifting into something that a lot of beginner business owners tend to avoid because they don't feel great about it. But their mindset around this maybe hasn't been worked on and we're going to do some of this today. But more selling, more selling, more selling, right? Selling is serving at the end of the day. You selling is sharing with the world. How you can help them go from A to B, A to C, A to D, create that transformation.
When you're in those beginner stages, I typically recommend that you spend 60 to 70% of your business day selling in it. Does this mean that you're on Instagram stories every 20 minutes of the day saying, Hey, I'm a coach, Hey, I'm a business owner, come buy from me. No, that is not what I'm saying, but we get to let people know what we're doing. If you are just starting, let's sign your first few clients so that you can start to create testimonials, create more of those foundations around your offers. Then we can start to invest back into the business and start to hire so that you can help more people. We sell in our business every single day and we do so in a way that feels good because we know that's when we're serving, we're impacting lives. People cannot buy from me or go through my programs or get that transformation, the result that I know I can help them with, if they don't know about it, right? People do need to see something and hear about something 7 to 10 times before they take action. Multiple times over and over and over in so many different ways, emails, captions, stories, personal conversations, and so much more and so more selling, more selling, more selling, and it gets to be in a way that feels good to you. That's one of the biggest things, is if you're forcing something, then something's out of alignment. So we've got to figure out, how can we shift that alignment back in? It's not necessarily that selling is the thing that doesn't feel good. It may be the way that you're doing it or the way you were taught too. So let's definitely get into that. If you have questions about different ways to sell, I recently did a podcast episode all about how to sell throughout the week. How to be selling daily in a way that feels good, of course. And you know what, to be honest, something that feels good to you might not feel good to me. And something that feels good to me might not feel good to you. We've got to find something that feels good to you and shift into that.
Foundational Steps
That is the beginner stage area. Don't stress about the website. Don't stress about your colors and your branding. I was actually chatting with somebody over on Instagram and the DMS about this. They had reached out to me, sharing that they're waiting a few months to start their business because they're waiting for their website and their branding and things like that. I want to create new evidence for you right now. If you're listening, if you're new, you don't technically need a website to get started. You don't need the branding to get started. Yes, you want foundations of what your message and your vision is so you know what you want to create by your first six to 12 months in your business. You're going to be evolving so much as a business owner. And if you spend so much, it can cost up to thousands and thousands of dollars for somebody to create your website for you or hours and hours and hours creating your own website yourself. You're going to most likely need to recreate all of that six months from now, 12 months from now, after you figure out what it is in your business you truly want to do and what your core messaging is going to be and all of those foundational pieces. I created my full website, themelissalin.com. If you go and check it out, that website was not created until I had already hit consistent 10k months on my business. I did not have my branding done, my colors, or anything until I had already hit consistent 10K months in my business. It doesn't necessarily need to be the thing that we focus on, but so many people feel it is because it helps them stay busy. It's like the thing that's going to make it happen. And to be honest, it's not. Do... websites help down the road? Most definitely. It's great to have one place for everybody to go to get all of your resources, but it's not necessary to start to hit 5K months. Definitely not.
The Next Level: Intermediate Business
Okay, let's move into the next level. So let's say that you've been in business for awhile. Maybe you want to hit the 10K month, the 20K month mark. Let's call this an intermediate business. Some of you are selling, some are focusing more on their clients, which is amazing. Some are trying to get more one-on-one clients, creating lots of content creation, working 10 to 12 hours per day feeling a little chaotic. They are pending their day with their clients and invoicing, finding new clients and they're going in the same circle over and over and over. Okay. Sign new clients. Awesome. We've got a new client. Gotta find another new client next week. So they are consistently finding new clients, working with new clients and they're kind of stuck, kind of plateaued in that intermediate level. They don't have the backend to really scale to the next level because they may not have the time to. I recommend, if you're wanting to get to that level, about the 10K month mark, what I teach my clients inside of my six-figure mastermind is really shifting into delegating, outsourcing, moving into the one to many, instead of only the one-to-one. In order to scale, we get to move away from the one woman show as hard and difficult as it may feel. It doesn't need to feel that way. It is going to be such a big relief. I know when I made my first hire back at the early stages, 2018, it was a game changer. Now we have, let's see, we recently, last month, hired three additional team members. We are continuing to scale and continuing to delegate and outsource in business and also my personal life. Trying some new meal services and all of those things to continue to delegate so that I can spend my time on my zone of genius. We really get to shift into that, if that's where you want to go. Delegate, outsource, and really move into the one to many. Which can sometimes look like adding a group coaching program and really expanding so that more people can get into your services without you working a hundred hours per week. You can definitely, definitely do this. We've had so many clients in our mastermind that were full with one-on-one coaching. They didn't know what else to do, moved into group coaching and got so much of their time back while being able to help more people. For a lot of us, freedom of time is what we're striving for. For you to have money. And if you're able to help more people doing this, why not? So definitely start to think about some of those things.
Advanced Levels
Then, if you are a little more advanced, maybe you have moved into the 10K month level, 20K month level, and you want to hit the 30, 40, 50K month level and beyond, what a lot are doing right now is they're organized. But it's kind of organized chaos that is getting things done on the backend. Team members are starting to help in parts of their businesses, but maybe you haven't fully let go of everything and you're still maybe you're micromanaging a little bit. I'm just putting some things out there. You're kind of acting as a solopreneur with team members around you, and you've got to bring it into this team and really delegate, and I mean truly delegate, where you empower your team members to make decisions for your business without you needing to be so hands-on with everything. I did a podcast episode recently as well, all about how to delegate effectively, because yes, you can definitely delegate, you can outsource. But to do so effectively, if you're able to do that, that is a game changer. That's when things are going to really help you to move the needle forward and really advance.
Automating Your Business
What you get to shift into is starting to automate more of your business. Surprisingly, not too surprisingly, actually, but when I was just starting my business in 2014, I had no idea about any of this. So maybe this is news to you. You can automate a lot of your business while still creating an incredible customer experience, of course. So shift into automation and ask yourself, how can some of your programs be tweaked to help even more people. Whenever we create a new program now, at our level, we're always asking ourselves before we map anything out, Is this program that we're thinking about, is this scalable? Unless it's one-on-one or an extremely high level mastermind, then we're always asking, okay, how can we scale this? Is this created and structured in a way that's scalable now, or that can be scaled on the road. You're always wanting to think about that because you want to help more people. You want to impact more and you have to, you get to create scalable offers to do this. Is it ready for scaling your current offer? If you have a group coaching program, ask yourself now, even if you're not at this level yet, ask yourself, Okay, Is this scalable? If you're looking at your program that you have right now, and if you can only bring in five clients at a time in your group coaching program, then you're going to be capped and maxed out. We want to make some tweaks to your program so that it is scalable and then definitely be adding more systems and organization on the backend so that you can continue to scale.
So, the big thing from this episode is you can create anything in life you want, in your business that you want. You're capable of creating that. We first get to decide what it is we want, declare it, then make a plan to get there and take action. It really is as simple as that.
