5 Steps To Hitting Your June Goals
By: Melissa Lin
We're officially halfway through the month of June! Something that we always do in our business is evaluate where we're at. So, where's the business at? Where is the team at? Where are our clients at? And we actually do this, weekly, monthly and quarterly. However, since we're kind of right in the middle of the month right now, I wanted to do a mini-mid month check-in because I know, a lot of the times you are in the middle of the month and that's when usually one of two things happen. One, you've got tons of momentum and you're going, going, going, or maybe you're not feeling tons of momentum in your business right now and you start to lean backwards and not interact and be in your business nearly as much because you kind of already feel like it's time to give up for the month, because things aren't moving where you would like them to. So it's exactly why I wanted to do a mid-month check-in so we can reevaluate and share some tips with you on how you can still hit your June goals, whether it's income goals or impact goals.
We have two entire weeks left in the month. It's 14 days, so much time. Something that we sometimes forget is that those transactions, if it's an income goal you're looking towards or working towards, in business can literally take just a few seconds, right? Someone enters their credit card information, paying you via PayPal. The transaction itself is only a few seconds. So your goals are more than possible for the month. So no matter where you're at right now in business and towards your goals, whether you've only made, you know, 5% of your sales for the month so far, or maybe you're 50% of the way there, there's still plenty of time. So today I'm going to dive into some of the things that we like to review during our check-ins or metric reviews. Again, we do this weekly. We do this monthly, we do this quarterly. Something about me is I love, love, love having a pulse on all of this, all of my business, as the CEO.
Where Are You Right Now
So first things first, we get to determine where you're at right now, right? We need some kind of base of where you're at right now, based on your original goals for the month. Right? Are you 10% there? Are you 30% there? Are you 50% there, 70% there? This is probably something that you put together and determined at the end of may.
Normally at the end of the month before, or maybe the quarter before is when you start to put together some of those goals. So first we wanted to determine where you're at right now based on your original goals for the month. Maybe you didn't have original goals, that's okay, too. Let's start to put some goals down, because in order to move forward we need to know what you're working towards. We get to have those goals so we can start to put some action items together for you to achieve those goals. So, where are you at based on your goals? We get to know that that way we can adjust or tweak your goals and your plans for the rest of the month. Right? If you're a little behind, then we get to amplify a few more things. So we also need to know not just the goals, but also how you're feeling, right? How you are feeling can shape a lot in your business?
So for example, this has happened many times for myself, if we're feeling off or maybe we're in a business funk, and maybe we don't have systems in place yet, something that could happen is we may step away from our business and this is all subconscious. Maybe you've already done this month, that's okay. We're getting you back in the game. Let's get things going and rolling again. Sometimes we don't even realize that we're stepping away from our business because we're not feeling good and this happened without really even realizing it. Maybe you haven't sold anything in your business this week, last week, or maybe you haven't shown up on social media the first two weeks, because you just were feeling off, you were in a business funk again. Once we know where we're at, how we're feeling, we can start to pivot. We can start to reevaluate and make some tweaks and adjustments so that we can get things rolling again.
So before we get into the steps of what to be doing and when to be doing these things, I want to share that I have had, and I mean this, I've had some of my biggest sales weeks during the last week of the month. I've had some of my biggest sales days during the last few days of the month. So again, just because we're halfway through the month does not mean you can't reach your goals. You 100% can reach your goals. Okay. So I definitely want you to shake that out of your head. If you're telling yourself that story, it's not serving you. So let's definitely reframe. You still can have your best month ever. You still can reach your goals. Anything is possible. So if you're feeling overwhelmed, if you're feeling unsure, anxious, you know, maybe things are just feeling complicated. Let's start to shift. We get to shift. We get to reevaluate. Let's shift right now.
Do Your Goals Still Align
Okay. So here’s step one. Let's take a step back. And first let's set some new goals. So like "new goals" and I'm air quoting because you probably already set some goals at the end of May for this month, as I mentioned, or last quarter for the month of June. Right? At the end of Q1, you typically prepare for Q2, then Q3. So what I want to ask you and I want you to think about for a minute or so is; do these goals still hold true to what you want? Your goals are allowed to change. If so, amazing, right? If your goals that you originally had for the month still hold true and it's still what you want to work towards, amazing. Let's determine what the gap is.
So what I mean by that is let's determine how far away you are from your goal at the moment. What is the difference? Right. Kind of a math problem. What was your goal? Now subtract where you're at now, so that we can find the difference, the gap, to determine what we get to do to close the gap and get you to your goal. If you want to reevaluate, maybe your original goal just doesn't feel aligned anymore. That's okay. We're allowed to pivot, you are 100% allowed to pivot your goals, right? You are the CEO, you're the boss. You get to make this decision.
I see this a lot when we create deadlines for ourselves, right? If you're in a launch or you're prepping for a launch and you want to originally start on this date and you're just feeling overwhelmed and you want a little bit more time. We feel like we can't change dates, but we can. You're the boss, you're the CEO. You get to make up the rules in your business. You most definitely can extend launches. You most definitely can move dates around. So again, we can reevaluate your goals. Maybe your original goal doesn't feel as aligned as it did last month. So you want to sell a different offer, maybe sell only passive programs moving forward this month, instead of coaching programs, also amazing, but first we get to determine what it is you want. So let's pivot. Let's shift your goals a bit. You're the CEO and get to decide what you want now. Maybe you had a slower first two weeks. Not a problem, not a problem at all. There are no problems here. Everything is doable. Everything is fixable and let's shift, let's reframe your story. If you're beating yourself up, if you're hard on yourself, because your first two weeks weren't nearly as big as you wanted them to be, let's reframe your story in a way so that it's actually serving you, right? You being mad at yourself or you, you know, turning yourself down, shutting yourself down, isn't serving you. It's not serving your audience, that story is serving nobody. So let's reframe your story in a way that it's actually serving you.
So a way we can do this is by shifting our story into a slower first two weeks. Gave you more space to lean into other areas of your life, so you could be more present in those areas, right? Maybe you had some personal things going on and you needed to take a step back from your business. Totally okay. The fact that you can do that, like that's probably a big reason why you started your online business. It gives you the flexibility to lean to other areas. If you need to write slower the first two weeks give you more space to lean into other areas of your life. Now you get to lean more into your business these next two weeks. Right? Simple as that, no more beating ourselves up. New story. We reframed into a story that's actually serving us. What we get to do now is now we get to adjust our goals accordingly. We now know what it is we want more of. So adjust your goals accordingly to help you get more of what you want. At the end of the day, that's what we're always striving for, giving you more of what you want. So that is step one. Setting goals is so important. If you don't have any yet, let's get some set today. It's so, so important.
Make A Plan
Now that we're clear on what it is that you want the rest of the month, let's make a plan. What does reaching that goal, or multiple goals that you have, actually look like? What are some of the actions that need to happen? What version of you do you get to step into, do you get to book six sales calls in order to sign three clients the rest of this month. Do you get to hop on live trainings to add more value to your audience these next two weeks? Do you get to talk about your offer more? Do you get to send out emails, maybe some private invitations? Do we get to focus on increasing conversions, right? Whatever this is, let's determine what it is and start to put your plan together. You know how much more you want to make, If it's an income goal. How many more people you want to impact, if it’s an impact goal, whatever your goal is. We've got that gap already, how are we going to close the gap? Let's put a plan together because things feel so doable with a plan in place. You can always pivot your plan. However, let's put a plan in place that lets you know what actions are going to help support those goals. So let's get that together. Now that we’ve started outlining your plan for the next two weeks, let’s look at the next steps.
Review
So step three is, I want you to also evaluate your first two weeks and even, you know, previous months where you've had great months in business. Evaluate and look at what was actually working. So what were you doing that was moving the needle forward? Were you focusing on sales activities? Were you reaching back out to old leads? Were you adding value consistently? What were some of those things? I want you to start to make a list so that you can go back to it this month, when you feel like things might be slowing down. I always call this tumbleweed time. When you feel like things are slowing down, things aren't slowing down, things are always happening on the backend. Go and take a look at your website page views and your application page views for your programs if you have an application based program. Things are working. Things are moving, but a lot of the time on the front end, it might feel like tumbleweeds. That's when we can go and grab this list, go do a live. Right? What would that next level version of you do when she shows up a little bit more on social media? Would she do mini training on Instagram stories? Would she ask for the sale instead of beating around the bush? What would she do? So those are some things I want you to think about. What was working?
Re-evaluate
That is going to also get us into step four. What wasn't working? So if you had a slow first two weeks, why wasn't it working? Are we spending time on creating months of content early when we don't need that content yet when we could have been focusing on sales? Where are we not talking about our offer enough? Are we not opening our lead tracker as often as we promised ourselves we would? Are we forgetting about our self-care, maybe our morning journal time? Are we doing too much of something? I really want you to evaluate this and take a look at some of your numbers and some of your analytics. Has something dipped these past few weeks? What can we do to amplify and get these things rolling again? Again, we've got to have that baseline. We need to know where you're at, what you're working towards, have your plan in place, and then see what's working and what's not working. Always be evaluating, always be looking at these things that are so important.
Take Care of Yourself
Then, step five. This is one of the most important aspects. Especially as you get into the next level in your business and the level after, it becomes more and more important. It's always, always, always been such a priority for me and it's something I really teach my clients. Make sure that you're feeling good each day, taking care of yourself. You're the CEO. You get to make sure that you're taking care of yourself. Right? This was one of my big, big, big shifts over the last year. Every morning, I actually write out a list of the things that I get to do each day. I call it my little Melissa list to make sure that I'm feeling good. I did it this morning. I did it yesterday. I'll be doing it tomorrow. I do it every single day, even on the weekends. You know, typically that includes a workout. Typically, you know, nutritious foods, eight hours of sleep, but getting outside in the sunshine and that list is completely separate from my business list of to do's. I don't have just one list of things I want to do. I have things I get to do for me, my Melissa list, things that are going to make me feel good, make sure I'm taking care of myself. Then I have a list of things that I get to do in my business. The things my business needs, right? Two separate things. You're not your business. You are more than just your business. So I want to make sure that you're taking care of yourself. Self care is a huge priority.
So, we've talked about making sure that you're setting your goals, making a plan, right? What are those actual actions needed to move things forward. Track what's happening, look at your KPIs, looking at your numbers. What's working? What's not working? What do we need to shift? Still, make sure your number one goal is making sure that you're feeling good. Fill your cup. What can we do more of, there are still two weeks left, still plenty of time. And again, you can have your biggest week in business in the second half of the month. You can have your best sales numbers in the last two days, and I absolutely cannot wait to see you crush your goals this month and so much more. And I would love to hear what you're working on. Go ahead, tag me on Instagram @TheMelissaLin and let’s get things rolling this week so you can have an incredible month and hit whatever goals you’re working towards this month!
